At the end of May 2008, the Plenary Council of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter met at the International Seminary Our Lady of Guadalupe in Denton, NE.
Every two or three years, this Council gathers together the main FSSP officials: the Superior General, the Vicar General, the General Assistants, Councilors, Secretary and Bursar, as well as the District Superiors (from France, from the German-speaking territories and from North-America), plus the Seminary Rectors (St Peter’s Seminary in Wigratzbad, Germany and Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, NE).
For the first time this meeting was taking place in North America. Some Council members thus discovered our American seminary (with the foundations of the new chapel now visible), as well as several other apostolates (Pequannock, Omaha, Lincoln). The American seminarians and priests were glad to get to know these superiors of the Fraternity and, during a convivial barbecue or at a conference, to ask them questions about their respective tasks.
Several members of the Council were able to attend the priestly ordination conferred by H. Em. Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos upon four of our deacons, while other members had to fly back to Europe where, the morning after in Wigratzbad, H. Exc. Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith was to ordain eight new deacons for the FSSP.
