Principles of resume writing
Structure of the resume
As obvious as it may seem, you should begin with a title. It consists of one word "Summary," which is placed at the very top of the page.
One or two sentences are placed below the title, which contains the purpose of this resume. For example, the applicant responded to an office manager position, but may also apply for a receptionist position that was not advertised by the employer. In the "Objectives" section, the job seeker may indicate several job positions, but the first position should be the one the employer has applied for. This order will not only simplify the work with the questionnaire for personnel specialists, but also increases the chances of the applicant.
In the "Personal Data" section - last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth or age, phone number, e-mail address.
Filling in the "Education" section does not cause much difficulty, as it is filled in on the basis of diplomas, certificates or other documents confirming the applicant's professional qualification. Information about education is in reverse chronological order and contains not only the name of the specialty, but also the name of the educational institution and the date of study. In this section, having higher education does not preclude specifying information about secondary special education and the qualification obtained in a technical school. It is also recommended to indicate the secondary school if it is a specialized educational institution, or if the applicant graduated with honors with a gold medal.
The longest and hardest section to fill in is the employment history section, as you should highlight the most important and emphasize the most significant achievements of your work history. For those starting their working career, it is worth mentioning an internship or apprenticeship, indicating the company or organization, as well as listing their job duties. For experienced workers it is advisable to indicate in reverse chronology 2-3 previous places of work and the range of job responsibilities.
In the "References" section, you should mention the availability of letters of recommendation, which can be presented at the interview. Currently, many people lose sight of the possibility of using references when applying for a job. But this is an effective way to increase the employer's favor and significantly improve your chances of getting a job.
The date of the document should correspond to the actual time of filing or sending. An earlier date may indicate that the author has been unsuccessful in his job search for a long time, which is not appreciated by employers.
